Balsa-wood display stand

This small balsa stand was built to display a little jar containing a sample of beach sand gathered at Ponta Delgada, Azores. Ponta Delgada is a city and municipality on the island of São Miguel, one of the nine that comprise the archipelago of the Azores, an autonomous region of my country (I don't really own it, though).

These photos show yet another way to display our figures. In the past, I've used bottle caps, for example, which worked wonderfully and I'll use them again in the future (I've gathered so many already!). However, this is another sort of approach, mainly because the end result looks much more elegant and there's always that extra value of having built it yourself.

No special tricks here, they're just bits of balsa wood and kebab sticks glued with White Glue (Elmer's glue, carpenters glue), tainted with a wood-staining product and sealed with Pledge - which has the same finish and works the same way as Future or Klir.
