Another 4 pages to go, although the last 2 compose the rocky section, which is the easiest part of this build.

Kumamoto Castle Canon Papercraft

This website deals mainly with castles that were built in the late 1500's - early 1600's as it is from this period where castle construction was at its peak. Even if you have seen just a handful of images of Japanese castles, it is almost a certainty that they originated from this period.

Following the Osaka Castle, here I am starting another paper model of a Japanese Castle (or at least a section of it), this time Kumamoto Castle.
Kumamoto Castle  is a hilltop Japanese castle located in Kumamoto in Kumamoto Prefecture. It was a large and extremely well fortified castle. The castle keep is a concrete reconstruction built in 1960,but  several ancillary wooden buildings remain of the original castle. Kumamoto Castle is considered one of the three premier castles in Japan, along with Himeji Castle and Matsumoto Castle.

Again, this model is offered by Canon Japan, in the Papercraft section of their site.

I resized the .pdf print to half the size of the original, loosing some detail and making the build process a bit more difficult, as I prefer smaller scales.

I cannot figure out what's the scale of the original model. If any of you know, please leave a comment.

Here's a japanese woodblock print  featuring this castle:
